Making The Most Of Our Natural Learning Environment at Trafford Ecology Park

Trafford Ecology Park is a hidden gem. An 11 acre nature reserve, featuring a lake, a woodland and a natural play area, all located in the heart of Trafford Park. It is an outstanding natural learning environment for children and adults of all ages to experience a taste of adventure.

In partnership with Groundwork Manchester, the not for profit organisation responsible for the site, we have created a forest school area packed with outdoor learning resources – establishing paths, erecting shelters and creating campfire circles that help children navigate the outdoor learning site.

In this natural learning environment, we host Babes In the Wood – our toddler forest school sessions, our holiday forest school club, adventure birthday parties and welcome schools and community groups for school trips and host corporate events and teacher training days.

Ten years of creating outdoor learning resources

With more than 10 years’ experience working alongside schools, we have a huge catalogue of outdoor learning activities in our adventure programme which support EYFS, KS1, KS2 and KS3.

Although we are lucky to have Trafford Ecology Park on our doorstep for delivering outdoor education, we’re just as passionate about helping schools to create their own natural learning environment and are keen to work with schools who want to develop their own forest school proposition.

What do we do?

Toddler forest school, holiday forest school, adventure birthday parties, school trips, corporate events and more hosted by We Are Adventurers at Trafford Ecology Park. You’ll find some of our frequently asked questions here.

  • Is there parking available?

Yes, there is a large carpark and your instructor will meet you here before guiding you into the woods to start your adventure experience.

  • Are there toilets on site?

It depends. There are no facilities on site for our toddler activity club and we recommend travel potties. We have a camping loo for birthday parties and we bring in portable toilets for the holiday clubs.

  • Is the park open to the public?

Generally the park is open to the public from Monday – Friday from 9am – 4pm. With the exceptions of Bank Holidays and the Christmas/New Year break.

Testimonials

Thumbs

“We brought Y2 to the Trafford Ecology Park, an 11 acre nature reserve in the middle of Trafford Park, it’s a real hidden gem with a safe established woodland, a pond and easy parking. As it’s only 20 minutes from school, we were able to hire a coach for the day and take a class of 30 in the morning and the second class in the afternoon, making it very affordable.

Thumbs

“The team from WAA worked with us to select the adventures that would work best for our class and we chose shelter building and a bug hunt. The two onsite leaders guided the activities from start to finish. The team were really helpful throughout the whole process, planning the event with us, meeting us beforehand onsite and checking in with us regularly throughout the whole day.

“The children had an incredible time in the woods and we’re looking forward to our next trip.”
