Brookburn Primary Primary School, Brookburn Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, M21 8EH
Access via the rear entrance. Please park in the car park opposite the Bowling Green pub and walk down the cobbled lane.
Trafford Ecology Park, Lake Rd, Trafford Park, Stretford, Manchester, M17 1HB

What are the party time slots?

We operate two time slots – 11 – 1pm and 2 – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Do you run all year round?

Our birthday parties run throughout the year, with the exception of August when our team are delivering the main holiday club programme. During wetter weather, we alternate between sites to allow the ground time to recover. In dryer weather (from 1 April – end of September) we are able to accept birthday party bookings on both sites concurrently.

Could my party be cancelled because of bad weather?

Extremely unlikely! We’ve been running parties for ten years, and have cancelled less than 10 parties in this entire period. We don’t mind rain, but keeping children safe is our priority, so if there is a yellow warning for high winds then we will have to move your party to a new date. Please wear weather appropriate clothes and decent footwear.

Are parents allowed to stay or drop off?

The parents/guardians of the birthday child are required to stay – but other parents can stay or drop off as desired. We do offer complimentary tea and coffee for parents and it can be a relaxing environment to get to know other parents.

What is included in the We Are Adventurers party pack?

We have three levels of party packs – ranging from £2 to £5 each. If you are interested in us supplying a party pack please get in touch.

What’s in your snack packs?

Individual snack packs cost £5 per head and include either a ham, cheese, strawberry jam, tuna, cream cheese, a drink, a home baked cookie and a piece of fruit.

What’s included in the gas BBQ hire?

The BBQ, gas and cooking tongues.

When do you need final numbers by?

We require final numbers seven working days before the party

What time are parents of the party child allowed to arrive for the party?

You are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the party to set up your own food/the birthday cake etc. We also need you and your guests to have all left 30 minutes after the end time of your party.

Are younger/older siblings allowed to attend the party?

Yes, they are welcome to attend. They don’t need to be included in the official party numbers if they are being looked after by their parents and not taking part.

When is payment required?

A £50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The final balance must be paid seven days before the birthday party takes place. Cash on the day is not an option.

How much does it cost to attend?

An additional cost of £5 for early drop off (from 8am) or a late pick up (till 5.30pm) and
£8 if you need both early and late wrap around support.

What should I send them with?

A packed lunch, a water bottle, spare clothes and a hat/suncream (where required). If your child wants to bring a pen knife with them, please make sure that their name is on it as they will be asked to hand these in at the start of the day and then it can only be used in supervised tool use/rope sessions.

What is the sibling discount?

We offer a 5% sibling discount for families who want to book more than one child on to our clubs at the same time.

How do I book using childcare vouchers?

We accept all types of childcare vouchers including Government Tax Free and the Childcare Grant Payment Scheme. Follow the usual booking process and when it comes to making payment choose the option ‘childcare vouchers’ and then our team will be in touch directly with our account number and next steps.

My chosen day is fully booked, is there a waiting list?

Sometimes at checkout, even though you have clicked that you are paying with childcare vouchers, it still requests a payment by card. Please type CV2021 in the coupon code space.

What ages can attend the Holiday Club?

Children can attend our Holiday Club at St John’s from four years old and up to 11 years old and from Brookburn Primary and Trafford Ecology Park from five years old up to 11 years old.

What should my little one wear?

Layers! With lots of game playing and running around, it’s easy to get warm – but it’s always cooler in the trees. Don’t forget a waterproof jacket, trousers, wellies and spare socks. It’s also a good idea to pack spare clothes. Please make sure all clothes are labelled.

Do they need spare clothes?

Although not essential, spare clothes (especially socks) are a good idea. Even if it’s only to change into at the end of the day when they’re getting back into your car/walking home. (Some inventive parents put bin bags on their seats for this very reason!)

Can they stay in a sibling group?

We do understand that sibling groups often want to stick together. As our activities are risk assessed by age, and in order for an 11 year old and a five year old to get the most out of the day, it’s better if they can be in a tribe of children closer to their age. At lunch time, all the tribes get back together around the campfire. If this is an area of concern for you, please contact us on 0161 877 0759 and we can discuss the best option for your family.

What if I need emergency wraparound care?

There is someone onsite from 8am until 5.30pm, so we can usually accommodate emergency wraparound care. Call 0161 877 0759 as soon as you know you need a wraparound slot and we’ll do our best to help.

What if my child is sick and can’t attend?

Please call on 0161 877 0759 if your child is unable to attend for any reason. Unfortunately we are unable to refund as we work on small ratios, we need to make sure every place is filled in order to meet costs.

What if I need to cancel or move my booking?

We will try to accommodate moving or cancelling bookings up to 10 working days (two full weeks) prior to the day of the session you wish to move/cancel. Requests for refunds must be sent to bookings@weareadventurers.co.uk. Unfortunately, we are unable to give refunds for requests made within 10 working days of the event.

What does Ofsted registered mean?

We’re very proud that our holiday clubs are registered with Ofsted. This means that our sites, safety protocols, risk assessments and schemes of work are all compliant with the Ofsted standards for childcare providers.

Is the Holiday Club all outdoors?

Yes it is. On each of our sites we have a base camp with a fire and a shelter which gives all of the children a place to go where they can be warm and dry. We also have plenty of activities that we do in wet weather – so make sure your child is dressed for all eventualities!

What are the sites like?

All of our sites are secure with a varying combination of woodland and open spaces that allow different types of outdoor adventure and game play. Each site has a base camp with a shelter around a campfire.

There is a place to hang up bags and coats safely and a water station where the children can refill their water bottles.

Portaloos are used across the sites and there are facilities for safe and hygienic handwashing.

What if it rains?

Getting wet is part of being an adventurer! We have a whole programme of activities that need it to rain – so please make sure your little one has a waterproof coat, trousers and wellies. That said, we are mindful that we want all of the children to leave the forest with a positive experience – so when the weather’s bad, we’ll stoke up the campfire and focus on building cosy shelters and woodland crafting.

Do you do all of the activities every day?

No, our days tend to start with game playing and end with marshmallow toasting – but what happens in between is set out by the theme of the day. One day might be archery, another day might be survival skills. This keeps our programme fresh and ensures that there is always something new for children to experience.

Can I see what the adventure programme is in advance so that I can just book on for a specific activity?

Our adventure programme is subject to change due to external (and unpredictable) weather factors and the age mix we have onsite – as such we don’t publish daily themes in advance. What we can promise is an exciting adventure whichever day you book.

Can my child bring a penknife?

Yes they can – but please tell the instructor on arrival that your child has a knife so that it can be collected immediately and safely stored in the sharps box. It can only be used in specific, supervised activities where there is a small ratio, tool based task. It will then be collected back in and returned at the end of the day.

Can I get a refund if my child misses a session?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds as we work on small ratios, we need to make sure every place is filled in order to meet costs.

What happens if the weather is really bad?

Getting wet is part of being an adventurer! We have a whole programme of activities that require rain – so please make sure your little one comes with a waterproof coat and wellies. During the Spring, Summer and Autumn terms, when the evenings are lighter and the weather is generally better, our after-school forest club is always outdoors and we ask you to send your children with sturdy footwear to change into.

As the nights draw in and the clocks go back, we take the children out as much as possible and focus on stargazing, campfire cooking and night navigation, but when the weather is truly awful we take the opportunity to head indoors and teach the children map reading, leaf and poo identification, play forest bingo and make lanterns.

What does my child need to bring?

Weather appropriate clothing, decent footwear and a healthy snack!

What happens if I’m running late?

Please contact the school as soon as possible to inform them if you are going to be running late.

Where do I collect my child from?

This is set out by the school, please contact the school office if you are unsure about where to collect your child.

Can I cancel my child’s place BEFORE the term has started?

Yes – and we will issue a full refund.

Can I cancel my child’s place AFTER sessions have started?

We can cancel the place but no refund will be given. We operate on small ratios, we need to make sure every place is filled in order to meet costs.
