This is a one day introductory course into bushcraft – ideal for those wanting to try something new, or who have previous experience of bushcraft, and wish to practice techniques with an expert.
You will learn how to thrive in the natural environment, gaining the basic skills and knowledge to survive.
Our instructors have a wealth of experience, and will be on hand throughout the weekend to offer encouragement, instruction and advice – and lots of fun along the way.
After everyone arrives on the Saturday morning, you will familiarise yourself with your surroundings before moving onto the day’s activities.
You will be taught how to use tools, learning safe cutting techniques.
This is followed by preparing and cooking a recently caught fish, which you will able to eat for lunch.
In the afternoon we will cover water preparation and foraging, where you will learn to identify edible, medicinal and mechanical plants.
The course will finish with a session on natural navigation techniques.

“We struggle to get Easton to leave Paul’s camps because he’s having so much fun. With so many holiday clubs offering a variety on the same theme, there’s nothing else like this out there.” Caroline, Didsbury
“Building a fire was really cool. But jumping out a tree on a zip wire was the best!” Easton, 6, Didsbury
“Just wanted to say thank you so much for hosting a brilliant party! I have heard brilliant feedback!”
“Thank you so much to Paul for a fantastic afternoon at Daniel’s 7th birthday party. He says it’s his best party ever!”
“Hello, we celebrated our daughter’s eighth birthday on Saturday with ” We are Adventurers”. We just want to say what an amazing time everyone had.
The children absolutely loved getting dirty, hiding in the woods, tracking each other and toasting ( vegetarian) marshmallows on the campfire that the birthday girl lit.
“Just wanted to say a big thank you for today Paul! It was amazing party! Harry had a fabulous time as did all this little friends!”
“Hello! Just wanted to say a massive thank you for hosting Luke’s Party yesterday. The instructors were amazing! Really friendly and helpful. Luke and his friends has a fabulous time and it was lovely to see them experience the joys of the outdoors and doing things that kids really miss out on these days. And the bug/nettle tasting went down a treat.”
“Thanks for Saturday, all the kids seemed to have a great time and we didn’t lose any which is always a bonus(!)”
We Are Adventurers ran a forest school session for 90 Year 1 children across a three day period at St Hughes School in Timperly April 2013.
“The children (and staff!) thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Paul has a lovely manner which the children really warmed to.
“The activities were really stimulating and exciting and all the children without exception thoroughly engaged in them and enjoyed them.”
Our activities
“We started off the session with a lovely “getting to know you” session. Paul asked the children to think of an animal that began with the same letter as their name. The children loved this so did their teachers! (We were very impressed that phonics was included in the first couple of minutes!)
“The rope activity was brilliant for PSE and it was lovely to see those children who sometimes hold back in the classroom engaging so freely.”
Fairies and Elves
“The children just loved this! It was lovely to see their faces as they listened to the story the magic fairy string, the mysterious Sneezy the dragon and the Fairy Village.
“All of the activities involved the children using a huge range of skills right across the curriculum. It was particularly interesting to listen to the children describing their fairy houses. It really triggered their imaginations. They worked brilliantly together in their little groups.
“As teachers, we were particularly pleased with the opportunities for follow up work which the initial session had provided. Their writing involved a recount of their session as well as writing instructions for making the fairy bracelets. We also did an excellent character description of the dragon. In independent activities during continuous provision, they made little maps of the village and drew plans of weird and wonderful things to catch the dragon!
“To conclude, it was a really exciting experience for the children and staff which provided the children with a whole range of learning experiences.”
“Oscar really enjoyed his week and is planning a winter birthday party in the forest. He loved getting muddy, was really proud of his creations (kazoo, pendant, lantern), got a kick out of doing had fun building dens, ‘dangerous’ things like sawing and toasting marshmallows on the fire.”
“Fantastic party! Massive thank you to the WAA team for such a great afternoon. Mike and Matt were excellent and all the children were so entertained – giving the parents a chance to relax!
Loved it!”
“Thank you for an amazing party! Everyone was very impressed as it was so different to the usual party entertainer/ softplay/ football ones that are the norm.”
My little boy, Jacob age 4, has been on a school trip today with his class from Staining primary school, they went to Stanley park. He has not stopped talking about his adventure day since I picked him up at 3pm. He has taken a massive shine to somebody called Tom? We honestly haven’t had one sentence without the name Tom in it this evening – this is so lovely for me to hear as my little boy is very shy and takes a while to feel comfortable with people, but he absolutely thinks the world of Tom. He excitedly told me how he chose Tom in the duck, duck, goose game & he couldn’t stop laughing when he was telling me all about it! He’s had a truly fantastic day! Thanks so much to Tom for making my little boy so so happy today. Xxxx
“Thanks you again for the fab week he had with you last week. I would like to know if you would have a spare space for him on Thursday & Friday?”
“I don’t know how to write this post without sounding like I’m gushing but my son and his 2 friends had their joint 8th birthday party today with Paul and his team and I can honestly say that it was the best party any of them have ever been to – despite the wind and rain! 24 very excitable and loud 8 year old boys is no mean feat but Paul and his colleague were brilliant and had them all completely entertained to the point that they all complained that they had to go home! Since we got home we’ve all had messages saying it was the best party ever – I’d highly recommend booking them for parties. They even supplied the parents with a shelter and unlimited cuppas! Worth every penny and more!”
“Great time had at We Are Adventurers today. Lovely to see my little boy doing what kids should do! Most enjoyed den building and the zip line. Will definitely be returning for more outdoor fun and exploring.”
“Just wanted to feedback that I was over the moon at the success of Reubens party. Children and parents loved it.”
“Thank you very much for a fabulous and fantastic party! Alex and his friends totally loved it. I think mud, sticks, fire, marshmallows and lots and lots of fun totally sums it up. A birthday adventure and a half! Thanks again.”
