National Trust campaign puts focus on outdoor family fun

Has your family started ticking off activities on the National Trust’s 50 Things To Do Before You’re 11 ¾ yet?

Tree climbing, bug hunting, campfire cooking, stick trails, barefoot walks, kite flying… the list is as long as it is fun. You can see them all at www.50things.org.uk – consider it a bucket list for your summer.

This is a brilliant idea from the NT, reinforcing the fact that the organisation is about way more than cream teas and stately homes.

And every one of these activities is not only cheap (or free), but is guaranteed to leave you and your children grinning from ear to ear.

That’s the beauty of having fun outside – it can be messy, silly, scary, yucky and creative, often all at the same time. Can you say the same about sitting on the sofa, playing on a computer or going shopping?

From our experiences going into the woods with our bands of young adventurers, we know there’s nothing like climbing, exploring, hunting and discovering for giving you an all-over glow. Try it and see for yourself.
