If you go down to the woods today … you’ll find outdoor birthday parties packed with new experiences to make an extra special birthday. This is a two hour event, hosted in secure natural woodlands, with the space to comfortably host between 12 and 30 children – and a collection of parents – for children aged 5 – 11.

We have a sheltered base camp area with a campfire, surrounded by wooden log benches where we start our safety briefing. Then it’s some woodland familiarity games before heading into the main activity. Activities include: den building, bug hunts, adventure assault course or survival skills – or, if your child has a special interest in pirates, Robin Hood, magical wizarding or super heroes, we can plan your adventure forest party around their theme.

Every party concludes with the birthday child lighting the campfire, gathering around to sing happy birthday and then time to toast a marshmallow before heading home.

Our outdoor birthday parties are run by one of our core adventure team, who are all paediatric first aid trained and are working with children in an outdoor setting all year round.

It may look grey and rainy to you, but to us, it’s just the weather to make a birthday party even more exciting and adventurous. So make sure everyone coming knows they need the right clothes for the day ahead and we’ll bring the energy and enthusiasm to deliver a high energy party.

What do we do?

We run our outdoor adventure birthday parties in woodland settings all year round. If you’d like to know more please see our adventure birthday party FAQs below.

  • Where do the parties take place?:

    We currently have two party sites in South Manchester: Brookburn Primary Primary School and Trafford Ecology Park.

    Access via the rear entrance. Please park in the car park opposite the Bowling Green pub and walk down the cobbled lane if possible.

  • What are the party time slots?

    We operate two time slots to allow for the party setting to be reset between events. 11 – 1pm and 2 – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Is there a minimum age?

    The birthday child must be a minimum age of 5 or above, but any friends may be 4 and above. The maximum age is 12.

     

     

  • Do you run all year round?

    Our birthday parties run throughout the year, with the exception of school holidays when our team are delivering the main holiday club programme. During wetter weather, we alternate between sites to allow the ground time to recover.

  • How much does it cost?

    Parties cost £14 per child for a 2 hour party excluding food. We charge for a minimum of 12 children.

    A £50 deposit is required when you book and the remainder is due 7 days before your event. If you cancel your event with more than 30 days notice, we will refund your deposit. If you cancel your event with less than 30 days to go, you will be liable to pay the entire bill.

  • What does a typical party look like?

    Our standard party lasts for 2 hours and normally consists of:-
    – A safety briefing.
    – A couple of themed games to get everyone used to their surroundings (all related to their themed activity).
    – The themed activity.
    – We follow the activitiy with more games.
    – 20 minutes for the children to have their food/cake.
    – We finish with fire and marshmallows.

  • Which party theme can I choose?

    The theme of the party can be chosen at the point of booking with a choice of Pirate Adventure, Robin Hood, Enchanted Forest or Survival.

    We are happy to cater for other themes of adapt each theme to suit your child’s wishes.

    Themes can be discussed with the instructor running your party who will call you a few days before your party date.

  • What's in the party bags?

    Our party bags are £3.50 and contain a reusable water bomb, a glowstick, sweet lolly, a pack of smarties, a WAA guide to building dens in the forest, and a branded WAA pencil and notepad.

  • What's in the ration packs?

    Our ration packs are £4.90 each and contain 4 sandwiches, a choice of healthy snack, a small Cadbury Dairy Milk bar, a packet of plain Seabrook Crisps, 4 mini cookies, a mini cupcake and a choice of drink.

    The ration packs are ordered in bulk from our suppliers and each child will receive the same two sandwich fillings selected during booking. The same applies to the drink and snacks selected. We are happy to cater for individual food intolerances and allergies, please let us know as soon as possible.

  • What should I wear?

    Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather. We recommend including a waterproof coat / trousers, wellies or strong shoes, several layers and a spare set of dry clothes to go home in. There is limited shelter and we don’t stop for rain!

  • What shelter do you have?

    If it rains, we all get wet! Often the best parties are the ones where it’s muddy! However, we also have a shelter that we put up for the parents and for the children to have their food under – no one likes a soggy sandwich!

  • Can I bring my own cake?

    Yes!

  • What if I need the toilet?

    There will be limited toilet facilities in the location – this may be a portable loo in a tent!

  • Do all of the parents have to stay at the party?

    Parents are welcome to stay or simply drop off and pick up. We provide tea and coffee to anyone who would like it.

  • Can siblings of the birthday child attend the party?

    Yes, siblings under 3 are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult and will not be charged. Older siblings must be included in the party numbers or supervised by an adult at all times.

  • What if I have any other questions?

    Most questions can be answered by the instructor leading your party who will call a few days before the event.
